31 classes in 31 days results!
What an amazing challenge we have had over the month of October.
Members were invited to join a challenge of attending 1 class every day over the month of October. The aim of the challenge was for people to get into the gym a little bit more often, try different classes and adopt a more active lifestyle.
Although we didn’t have a huge number of people enter the challenge, the members who did enter stuck to the challenge and surprised not only us, but themselves. Some attended over 50 classes in the 31 days, lost kgs and generally had an amazing experience during the challenge. Most of the challengers really enjpyed the experience and felt fantastic by the end….
“I have really enjoyed this challenge. Loved trying new classes & classes that I hadn’t done in a long time. I also liked trying different instructors who teach the same class. This has been my 4th challenge at Blackwood fitness & my favourite. Thanks to you Kirsty Nield & to all the other instructors for all your support & encouragement.”

FIRST PLACE: CONGRATULATION TO ANDREA
Andrea got a total of 65 points during the challenge attending 61 classes and picking up 4 double point classes. She lost nearly 6kgs and achieved her initial goal of trying different classes an getting fitter and stronger.
“What a great challenge. I began thinking that I probably would not be able to get to 31 classes, but I set myself a goal to try some new classes and to try and get to as many classes as I could. This past month, I have tried all of the classes on the timetable, including many I have not done before and I have done at least one class each day of October. A month later and I am feeling stronger and fitter and have been amazed at how I did find the time for exercise when I made it a priority. I would definitely recommend the challenge, a great way to try some new classes or to improve your fitness. Looking forward to the next one!”
SECOND PLACE: CONGRATULATIONS TO NYSSA
Nyssa’s competitive nature really pushed herself to achieve 60 points during the challenge. Nyssa’s goals were to become fitter and healthier and get a toned flat tummy. Well, she certainly did that.
“I feel much fitter & stronger after the challenge & absolutely loved it. it helped me push myself to my limit & beyond. I would definitely participate again in the future.”
THIRD PLACE: CONGRATULATIONS TO ANTHIA
Anthia picked up 57 points during the challenge and lost just over 3kgs. Her goal was to loose 4kgs, so she nearly achieved her goal.
“I really enjoyed this challenge. I had just finished the previous 8 week challenge at Blackwood Fitness and I thought this challenge could help me continue with my weight loss journey. My goal during the 31 days was to complete the 31 classes. When this was achieved with 9 days to spare, I thought I would change the goal to 50 classes for the month. This goal was achieved as well with the help of a few double point classes. My weight loss goal was 4 kilograms for the month. I achieved a 3.1 kg loss. Even though I did not achieve my initial goal, I am still very happy with my weight loss result. I will just move my goal post until I get there
Physically I feel very strong after completing this challenge. Mentally I feel empowered by the experience.
I expected the challenge to be fun and to help me stay on track with my weight loss goals. It did deliver. I liked getting out of my comfort zone and trying new classes such as Pilates, Drum Fitball & Barre Flex. I also chose to participate in classes that were taught by instructors that were new to me.
I would recommend the challenge to anyone. There are classes on the timetable to suit any age group. The 31 day challenge was fun, challenging & rewarding. Loved it!!!!”
Here are some of the results our challengers achieved, their before and after photos and a summary of how they felt after the challenge.
Jess picked up 34 points and while she didn’t lose any weight, she lots centimeters around her waist, legs, arms and chest. She achieved her goal of getting in shape for summer and staring fit in the soccer off season. She looks amazing.
“I managed to achieve all my pre-challenge goals besides the kilos BUT I did learn it’s not about the weight, it’s about how I feel and I feel pretty bloody good! The end of the challenge has geared me up to continue with classes and I’ve notices if I don’t go I get the guilt’s.”
Sally achieved a scope of a whopping 45. Although she didn’t lose any weight, she did change her body shape and lost centimetres from her legs, arms, waist and chest. Sally’s goal was to improve her aerobic fitness, tone up her body and try new classes. She certainly did achieve all her goals.
“I absolutely loved this challenge! I think a month is a really achievable period of time to stay motivated. I loved trying a few different classes that put my out of my comfort zone, as well as continuing with the usual classes that I enjoy. I feel good in myself…. I feel fitter and stronger. I was a bit disheartened that I didn’t lose any weight at all but I am happy with the photo comparison and the physical changes in my body.”
Di attended 23 classes during the challenge. Her goal was to develop a better attitude towards health and fitness and change her body shape. Di did a great job and certainly increased the amount of exercise she does.
Siti scored 16 points during the month and lost 2kgs. Siti joined the challenge to lose some weight, improve her strength and make some friends. We hope she managed to achieve these goals.
“Although I am not doing really well with the challenge because of other commitments and activities, joining the challenge was one of the best decision for me to getaway from my personal situation. Just at the beginning of October, I was still dealing with depression. Days were dark and teary. Joining Blackwood gym, especially with joining the challenge, I started feeling good about my self. Most importantly, I feel stronger not just physically, but also mentally.”
Sharlene picked up 43 points during the challenge and lost nearly 4kgs. Although she isn’t too sure, we certainly think she achieved her goal to push herself to be healthier and fitter and change her body shape.
“I don’t think I achieved my goal, but not through lack of trying, it was hard to do more classes as I was working nights and babysitting my nephew most days. Also I have a huge problem trying to stick to a good eating plan, I just love eating too much. So I am thinking I would have lost more weight if A) I wasn’t such a pig with eating, and B) I had been able to come more often.
Yes This was pretty much how I expected the challenge to be, I definitely enjoyed it and would recommend it to others, although I didn’t lose heaps of weight, I am still pleased with the results and don’t mind looking in the mirror as much as I used to.
Physically and mentally I feel great! There were days when I was sore and tired, but I feel I was more sore from work, not because of gym.”
Kat picked up 37 points during the challenge and certainly achieved her goal of getting ready to put on a bikini when she goes to Fiji at the end of the year!!
