Now that its cold outside come inside and climb into our nice heated indoor pool for our class of the month Aqua and bring a friend for free!
Aqua is a class suitable for ALL fitness levels, coordination levels and ages
There is a bit of a stigma attached to Aqua and the age group it is designed for. One only needs to jump into a class to realise Aqua is challenging and effective for everyone, no matter your age, gender or ability.
Regardless of your fitness level, you can get a great workout in the water. Your instructor will offer plenty of modifications to increase or decrease the difficulty of the moves, and you are always free to go at your own pace. As I always say, in any class, the work out is what you make it. If you want to push yourself hard you can. If you are new to exercise you can take options and work your way up to a harder workout as your fitness improves.
Feel confident in your own skin
Once you get in the pool, no one can tell if you can’t coordinate a particular move. When you are in the water, you don’t have to worry that anyone’s judging you. There is less pressure to keep up with the instructor or the person next to you as no one can really see what is going on below the water.
Initially, some people may find exercising in bathers, and getting into the pool a bit confronting. Once you have done it a couple of times, you quickly realise, everyone is in the same boat. No one cares what you look like in your bathers. The main objective is to get a fun, effective and safe workout.
Safe and effective
Due to the buoyancy the water provides, high impact moves such as jogging, jumping and leaping are safe and easy. There is no impact on the joints. This means Aqua can help improve your performance in high-impact activities, including running, dance, or team sports such as soccer or softball. Thanks to the buoyancy of water, you’ll be strengthening your muscles and improving your cardiovascular fitness without subjecting your body to additional wear and tear. You will leave the class feeling strong and refreshed.
For this reason, Aqua is also fantastic for people recovering from injuries. It allows you to strengthen your muscles without stressing vulnerable joints.
Get a well-balanced workout
When moving through water, the body has resistance throughout the eccentric and concentric use of muscles. Prime movers and antagonist muscles work equally when in the water. Therefore, Aqua helps you balance out muscle groups that may have become uneven through repetitive actions.
A true full-body workout
Like in any form of exercise, it’s not just your heart and muscles which get a work out in Aqua. Working out in water is also fantastic for your internal organs and lymphatic system. These extra benefits help explain why participants feel so good after a class. The body is refreshed rather than exhausted.
If you are still not sure if Aqua is the class for you. Here are some testimonial from some of our amazing Aqua regulars:
“Aqua helped lower my blood pressure and it has helped with my osteoarthritis. I can do things in the pool which I cant on the land. The doctor has remarked how fit I am, which is just from doing Aqua classes. I also love the music and singing along to the songs” – Margaret
“As you get older it is so important to keep fit. When I had my hip replacement it was so important for my recovery. People think it will be an easy work out, but it’s not. It’s really challenging and a great work out.” – Judi
“As they say, use it or lose it, doing Aqua has really helped me with my rheumatoid arthritis. I find it really easy on my joints. I have made so many friends coming to classes. I just love it. I miss it if I don’t come” – Libby
“Ive been coming for 18 years and have always enjoyed the classes. When I exercise in water I can do things I can’t on the land” – Elizabeth
