Aqua Water Aerobics is a 45 minute class in the swimming pool at around 31C. Aqua is a great cardio & aerobic workout using the resistance of the water. Lets explore the benefits of why you must put Aqua into your exercise routine.
Increase muscle strength and flexibility – Water resistance compared to air can be up to 42 times, this is because water flows in different directions. Studies show that when regular aerobic exercise in introduced into a routine there is further increase in strength, agility and flexibility.
Build endurance – When using weights outside the water, the body has to lift and pull against gravity. Water training lightens the load, the body is required to pull and push through the water, instead of against it. This helps build endurance in the body.
Low Impact – Due to the buoyancy of the water, the pressure of gravity is lessened, this enables us to work out and not put as much impact onto our joints when working out in water. Our Aqua class is the perfect work out for those who have arthritis or going through physical rehabilitation as the water takes the pressure off the body.
Burns calories – Don’t be fooled, water may lesson the load on your body but our Aqua classes burn some serious calories (up to 500 in a 45 min class) depending on which Aqua class you choose. Combining cardio and strength with water gives your body a great work out!
