Annette Henning, is a much loved fitness instructor here at Blackwood Fitness! Annette has a long history working in the fitness industry. In the past she has taught various class styles including Body Combat, Body Attack and freestyle classes.
Currently she teaches Body Pump and Tabata at Blackwood Fitness. Annette loves her early starts, teaching at 6am 4 mornings a week. She is a great motivator and keeps our dedicated 6am members fit and healthy.
What Got You Interested In Becoming A Group Fitness Instructor?
I was always one of those ‘front row participants’. One day in 1997, the instructor at the gym I was attending, encouraged me to do ‘the training’. I figured, “I’m here anyway, I might as well get paid for it.” I loved being the center of attention and I loved bossing people around, so I knew I would be the perfect instructor! Bahahaha!

That’s like asking me to pick my favourite child! I love all my classes; each of them for a different reason.
Cert 3 in Fitness, Body Pump, Body Attack, RPM (trained), Body Combat (trained), Body Jam (Trained).
What Else Do You Do When You’re Not Leading Fitness Classes?
I’m a chartered accountant. I run my own firm called “Saxx Business Solutions”. I’m a mother of two, a wife of one and I go to church on Sundays.
Advice or tips to get the most out of your classes?
Leave your excuses at the door! Lol! JK. Go hard! Be deliberate and precise in every move you make.
