Joyce Haddad, is one of our much loved fitness instructors here at Blackwood Fitness! With over 3 years in the fitness instructing industry and also being a candidate for a PhD in family nutrition and now a practicing dietitian, Joyce obviously has a passion for people’s health!
What got you interested in becoming a group fitness instructor?
I’ve been participating in group fitness classes since I was 15 and fell in love with the vibe straight away. The energy and motivation of the fitness instructors sparked my interest to become one myself so I can pass on that same energy and motivation to others
How long have you been instructing?
What’s your favourite class to teach and why?
I love HIIT – apart from the scientifically proven benefits of interval training, you’ll never know what you’ll get in this type of class. The type of exercise that is involved is always a surprise – so it never gets boring!
PhD candidate in family nutrition, Accredited Practising Dietitian, Accredited Nutritionist, Cert III & IV in Fitness (Master Trainer)
What else do you do when you’re not leading fitness classes?
As a private practice Dietitian, I have a passion for helping people eat and live healthily in a realistic way. No dieting or restricting food!
I am also doing a PhD to help Australian families improve their eating habits
Advice or tips to get the most out of your classes?
Just come in with positive energy, a big smile, and be ready to laugh at many of my cheesy jokes – leave the rest to me!
Any other interesting facts about yourself?
I need to travel at least once a year, I’ve traveled to 30 countries so far!
